Ben Simmons heads 2015 Pre-Season Top 150

October 7th, 2014 | by Van Coleman

The Summer evaluation period led to some real shake-up at the top of our rankinkings of the class of 2015, including a new number one prospect in 6-8 LSU commitment Ben Simmons from Montverde, FL Academy. Simmons, and Australian native was the dominant player of the spring and summer including stellar performances at the NBPA Top 100 Camp and in Nike EYBL action!

He is getting pushed by some two big-time back court scorers and one of the deepest group of big men talent we’ve seen in recent years.  In at number two, is 6-6 swing man Jaylen Brown from Marieta, GA Wheeler high who can explode for thirty-plus anytime he hits the court. Brown has a deadly perimeter jumper that sets up a variety of highlight moves that he finishes over and around opponents at the rim. Right behind him is the dominant offensive force in the Nike EYBL, 6-4 Allonzo Trier from Henderson, NV Findlay Prep who averaged over 30ppg versus the best Nike has to offer this summer. He has point guard ball skills, but is an unstoppable driver and slasher who sets game up with accuracy off the dribble on the pull-up or catch and shoot jumper. Up next, is 6-9 shot blocking machine Cheick Diallo from Centerreach, NY Our Savior New American. This high motor big man can swat shots with the best in high school and is just starting to develop into a force on the blocks offensively. Rounding out the top five is former number one rated Ivan Rabb, a 6-10 face-up four man who has all the tools to become a force offensively. He struggled a little with consistency this summer, but he has the game to challenge for the top spot…so stay tuned!

Heading up our second five is 6-5 scoring wing man Malik Newman from Jackson, MS Callaway High. Newman can score from the NBA arc or slash and finish with highlights at the rim. Consistency will be the key for him making a move into the top five. The next three spots go to a talented trio of big men, headed by Las Vegas, NV Bishop Gorman teammates, 6-9 Chase Jeter and 6-11 Stephen Zimmerman. This duo will give Gorman an unstoppable inside-out two man game that will be second to none nationally. Jeter is the most improved big in the glass capable of scoring facing or on the blocks, while Zimmerman has the leght to dominate on the blocks or trail and pop jumper from the arc. Right behind them is another fast riser in low block scoring machine, 6-9 265-pound Caleb Swanigan from Fort Wayne, IN Homestead. He has great hands, a soft touch, and the strength to score through contact versus anyone in the class. Rounding out the top ten is another high scoring combo guard in 6-3 Antonio Blakeney from Orlando, FL Oakridge who has tools to score from deep with jumper or finish drive with highlights.

But, the top ten may not be safe, as a talented trio of 6-10 big men, Henry Ellenson, Skal Labissiere, and Diamond all have been in someone’s top ten this fall. For good measure a trio of back court talents, 6-4 Tyler Dorsey, 6-0 Jalen Brunson, and 6-4 Isaiah Briscoe all recieved consideration for a top ten spot.   Plus, their are a number of other bigs and wings, who could with big years, make aurguments about their being deserving of a top ten spot…that’s why we expect this list to change a lot at the top as the coming season progresses. SO with that in mind here is our look at the Pre-Season Top 150 for the Class of 2015:
